u6rd

The u6rd daemon is a userland implementation of 6rd (RFC 5569) for 6rd customer edge routers. It does not provide the functionality of 6rd relay routers. It runs in the user-space using the tun(4) interface and the raw socket interface.

Platforms

The u6rd daemon requires the raw socket and IPv6 support for the tun(4) interface. It runs in the userland and requires no kernel patch.

Tested by the author:

FreeBSD/amd64 10.0 (u6rd 1.7.1), FreeBSD/amd64 9.2 (u6rd 1.7)
NetBSD/amd64 6.0.1 (u6rd 1.5)

Not yet tested:

OpenBSD: Will not work. Incoming 6rd packets go to ip4_input() instead of rip_input().
Mac OS X: Likely to work.
