What Is racoon2?

racoon2 is a tool kit for IPsec. The aim of the racoon2 project is to provide a powerful IPsec system for end-to-end communications. The scope is not limited to key management protocols, but current activities are focused on implementing key management daemons. IKEv1, IKEv2, and KINK daemons are provided.

The target platforms are unix systems with KAME-like PF_KEY extensions, i.e. FreeBSD, NetBSD, and Linux 2.6. There may be also some interests to support OpenBSD, Solaris, or even Windows, but no work has been done yet. DragonFly BSD and Darwin (Mac OS X) has not been tested, but racoon2 should work on them with trivial modifications.
